Gary Lloyd is Mason Tailspinner, who recently visited Hunt Valley Elementary and captivated our first, second, third and fourth grade students with some wonderful tales. He told some delightful animal stories for our first and second graders which they thoroughly enjoyed. As for our third and fourth graders, Mr.Talespinner challenged our students to tell if his stories actually happened or not with his presentation, Amazing Escapes: True or False? He did a great job of displaying how oral language is the prerequisite to the written word. Mr.Tailspinner's repertoire of tales can be geared for any age group. Contact |

Timber Lane is hosting Rinaldo Campana, a Puppeteer, for our Family Literacy Night event. Mr.Campana has been a substitute teacher in our school. We are asking our students to write stories about a clown and his dog and Mr. Campana will write the script from our stories, then perform for our evening event. Contact: |

Sandy Lyne teaches poetry writingHe has three different presentations...Writing Poetry:Every Student Can (grades 3-12), Life Is the Teacher:Writing Poems From Daily Experience (grades 5-12), and Skinny Odes:Poems of Praise and Celebration (grades 5-12). Each is offered as a 4-day student workshop (up to 4 classes for $1000 a week) or a 3-hour teacher inservice. The first two are also offered as a 6-hour/1-day teacher workshop (I'm not sure of the price for teacher workshops). |
He has come to our school to work with our 6th graders on several occasions, and the poetry written by our students is amazing! Even our most reluctant writers participated and shared, and the poems frequently brought tears to the eyes of their audience! Contact: Judi Elmore |

Author:THE WRECK OF THE ETHIEShe presented the history behind the writing of this book along with information about the wonderful Newfoundland Rescue dogs. Her companion, Teddy Bear, aka Mr. Ted, a fully grown, lovable Newfoundland dog rests quietly during the presentation and then allows the children to pet him as they leave. Hugger to the Rescue is a nonfiction selection in the Signatures Rare Finds. Reading this ahead of time, the students had a weatlh of knowledge and many questions to ask Mrs. Hyland. |
