We hope the school year has offered both challenges and rewards to you.  We are happy you have decided to check out our website.

The FCRTA has co-hosted literacy events offered in Northern Virginia.  Some of the authors that have been featured are Stephanie Harvey, Janet Allen, Richard Allington, Barry Lane, and Ralph Fletcher.  Linda Hoyt has been with us on two different occasions and is presenting this year as well.  Next year we have already lined up Cris Tovani, author of I Read It But I Don’t Get It, Do I Really Have To Teach Reading ?,and Comprehending Content: Reading Across the Curriculum, Grades 6 – 12.  The FCRTA also has a service project each year.  In the past we have collected books for classroom libraries and donated them to schools in need of more books.

This website supports literacy and offers links to other literacy sites to be used in your classroom and school.  The website is currently being updated and we hope you find it to be user friendly.  Be sure to look for the list of companion short texts FCRTA members have compiled for The Comprehension Toolkit by Stephanie Harvey and Anne Goudvis.
